A Pakistani German Molecular biologist awarded with Leibniz Prize

Dr. Asifa Akhtar is a Pakistani-German molecular scientist. Dr. Asifa Akhtar does a job for Germany’s Planck Society. She is the first ever international female vice president for the biology and medicine section who has been selected as a recipient of the Leibniz Prize for 2021.

The prize is  Germany’s most prestigious and well-known research funding award, according to the award Dr. Akhtar will be receiving funding for her groundbreaking cell-biology work on the mechanisms of epigenetic gene regulation. 


It is indeed a big accomplishment for Pakistan and South Asia that a lady has done a marvellous job in research and sciences department.
