was hit by the worst blizzard in decades, with temperatures in northern Spain dropping to a record low of minus 35 degrees yesterday.

Snowstorms and strong winds knocked down trees, several inches of snow
trapped thousands of vehicles, and the city’s train service was suspended.
Spanish Madrid Airport was also covered with snow, flights were canceled and the airport was closed. Authorities have ordered people to stay indoors due to heavy snowfall, and work is underway to clear snow in the affected areas and remove vehicles
stuck on highways.
